Fifteen years after the creation of UNSCR 1325 and the Women, Peace and Security Agenda, women’s participation, protection and rights remain unfulfilled. This event in our ongoing Women, Peace and Security lecture series will feature a briefing from the women participants in a recent one-week long journey with North and South Korean women, and their historic crossing of the DMZ, their findings and message for the continued advocacy of ending the Korean War, division of millions of families, and reliance on militarisation.
A documentary entitled “Crossings” on the journey is forthcoming and a screening of the trailer along with a picture slideshow will be viewed.

Participants
Christine Ahn is a columnist and organiser for peace and justice in the US, Korea and Asia Pacific. She has co-founded the Korea Policy Institute, the National Campaign to End the Korean War, Women De-militarise the Zone, and has served as Senior Policy Analyst at the Global Fund for Women.
Aiyoung Choi is an advocate for gender equality, peaceful conflict resolution, and using art and culture to catalyse progressive social change. She serves as Chair Emerita of the Korean American Family Service Center and is a Founding Member of the Asian Women Giving Circle.
Dr. Hyung-Kyung Chung, is professor of interfaith engagement at Union Theological Seminary. She is an international author, speaker, and activist in the area of interfaith peacemaking, ecofeminism, and women’s spirituality. A Christian theologian and a Buddhist Dharma teacher, she is a councillor of the International Peace Council.
Ann Wright is a retired US Army Reserve Colonel and a former US diplomat who resigned in 2003 in opposition to the US war on Iraq. She now works globally with peace and social justice groups. She co-authored Dissent: Voices of Conscience.
Moderator
Cora Weiss is the former President of the International Peace Bureau, which she now represents at the UN. She is President Hague Appeal for Peace, and was among the civil society drafters of Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.
