Dear Friend,
We invite you to “Midsummer Dreams for Korea Peace: Celebrating Our Narrative Changemakers,” a fundraising event for Women Cross DMZ, which will be held in Los Angeles on Sunday, July 14, 3-6pm.
You won’t want to miss this event, which will feature three Champion Narrative Changemakers who challenge entrenched paradigms and reclaim our narratives in order to advance peace in Korea, the Asia-Pacific, and beyond: Bruce Cumings, foremost historian on the Korean War; Deann Borshay Liem, Emmy award-winning documentary filmmaker; and Viet Thanh Nguyen, Pulitzer Prize-winning author. Renowned multidisciplinary artist Dohee Lee will also nourish our souls with a special performance with music, song, and dance
Sip on soju cocktails, dine on delectable Korean fare, and be inspired by the intergenerational feminist leadership from Women Cross DMZ — Christine Ahn and Cathi Choi. Guests will be able to bid on the historic jogakbo (Korean folk art) scarves that were worn by the 30 feminist activists who crossed the DMZ in 2015, as well as purchase Korea Peace Now! T-shirts that were designed for the historic Korea Peace Action gathering in Washington, DC last year.
Proceeds from this event will support our continued work to end the “forgotten” Korean War and cultivate the next generation of Korea peace activists.
Seats are limited, so reserve your spot today! If you’re not able to attend, please consider supporting our work by donating. (Sponsorship is open to organizations and individuals.)
We hope to see you in Los Angeles in July! And stay tuned for more events this fall!
In peace,
Christine Ahn & Cathi Choi
