Echo serves as Director of Organizing for Women Cross DMZ. She represents Washington Butterfly for Hope (Nabi DC), a grassroots organization addressing "comfort women" issues, and co-chairs the committee for the Washington Statue of Peace in Annandale, Virginia, which commemorates victims of sexual slavery under Japanese imperial military forces during World War II.
Born in the Republic of Korea, she immigrated to Fairfax, Virginia at age 12. She began engaging with Korean-American issues at 14, studying modern Korean language, Korean-American history, and samulnori (traditional Korean percussion music).
Echo participates in activism through chanting and drum performance at rallies. She also works as a freelance interpreter and consultant, serves as a board member of Korean Queer and Transgender Organization in DC (KQT DC), and is an advocacy member of the National Association of Korean Americans (NAKA). She is mother to two children, Eileen Jung and Justice Jung.
